[🇩🇪] Mit 17 Partnerstädten auf vier Kontinenten verfügt Frankfurt am Main über gute Kontakte in nahezu allen Teilen der Welt. Im Laufe der Zeit ist im Rahmen einer solchen Verbindung die Intensivierung des kulturellen, intellektuellen und wirtschaftlichen Austausches in den Vordergrund getreten. Die Städtepartnerschaft mit dem kanadischen Toronto begann im Jahr 1989.
Im vergangenen Jahr malte der Künstler Justus Becker alias Cor in Toronto ein Mural, bei dem sich in der Brille der abgebildeten Person sowohl die Skyline Frankfurts, als auch die von Toronto spiegelte. Mit Alexander Lazich alias Bacon ist in diesem Jahr ein Künstler aus Toronto nach Frankfurt am Main gekommen, um ein Mural zu malen. Auch hier wurden die Partnestädte im Motiv berücksichtigt, und zwar in Form von Tieren: Der Adler steht für Frankfurt am Main, der Waschbär für Toronto. Zu sehen ist das Werk in der U-Bahn-Station Festhalle/ Messe.
[🇺🇸] With 17 twin cities on four continents, Frankfurt am Main has good contacts in almost all parts of the world. Over the course of time, the intensification of cultural, intellectual and economic exchange has come to the fore as part of such a connection. The city partnership with Toronto, Canada, began in 1989.
Last year, the artist Justus Becker, alias Cor, painted a mural in Toronto in which both the Frankfurt skyline and that of Toronto were reflected in the glasses of the person depicted. This year, Alexander Lazich aka Bacon, an artist from Toronto, came to Frankfurt am Main to paint a mural. Here too, the partner cities were taken into account in the motif, in the form of animals: The eagle stands for Frankfurt am Main, the raccoon for Toronto. The work can be seen in the Festhalle/ Messe subway station.
