Besonders erwähnenswert ist das Museumsufer, einer der bedeutendsten Standorte für Museen in Deutschland und Europa. Insgesamt umfasst die Museumslandschaft in Frankfurt am Main etwa 60 größere und kleinere Museen und Ausstellungshäuser. Eine Kunstform, die auch ihren Platz in Frankfurt am Main hat, aber nicht klassisch ausgestellt werden kann und bisher auch nicht gebührend online dokumentiert wird, ist die Streetart. Das Online-Archiv MURALS ART FRANKFURT schliesst nun diese Lücke.

Die Website präsentiert seit Juli 2017 dieses Thema auf einzigartige Weise: Stadtbezogen, mit zahlreichen, ausschließlich selbstgemachten Fotos der Werke, Informationen zu den Künstlern und Künstlerinnen, einer Karte, in der alle Standorte der Werke eingetragen sind sowie einigen Making-of-Videos der Artists - und das alles gebündelt an einer Stelle im Internet. Dokumentiert wird überweiegend Graffitikunst an Hauswänden, sogenannte „Murals“ und andere kreative Fassadengestaltungen und Wandmalereien. Aktuell (Stand: März 2024) sind 81 Werke nationaler und internationaler Streetartists zu sehen, z. B. von Bomber, Case Ma’Claim, Cor, ECB, Guido Zimmermann, Herakut und Kent. Die zu sehenden Murals sind zwischen 1997 und 2023 entstanden und bis auf einige Ausnahmen auch heute noch im Stadtbild vertreten.
Murals sind die größte und auffälligste Ausdrucksform der Streetart und in zahlreichen Großstädten der Welt zu entdecken.
Der Begriff „Mural“ leitet sich von Muralismo ab und steht allgemein für Wandmalerei im öffentlichen Raum. Streetartists erschaffen mit Sprühdosen, Malerrollen und Schablonen aufwendige und großflächige Kunstwerke. Im Gegensatz zu anderen Formen der Streetart handelt es sich bei Murals in der Regel um legale Projekte, die aus Auftragsarbeiten, Streetart-Festivals oder Open-Air-Ausstellungen hervorgehen.

The museum landscape in Frankfurt am Main comprises a total of around 60 larger and smaller museums and exhibition venues. Street art is an art form that also has its place in Frankfurt am Main, but cannot be exhibited in the traditional way and has not yet been properly documented online. The website has been presenting this theme in a unique way since July 2017: City-related, with numerous, exclusively self-made photos of the works, information on the artists, a map showing all the locations of the works and some making-of videos of the artists - and all bundled together in one place on the internet. It mainly documents graffiti art on house walls, so-called "murals" and other creative façade designs and murals. Currently (as of August 2023), 80 works by national and international street artists can be seen, e.g. by Bomber, Case Ma'Claim, Cor, ECB, Guido Zimmermann, Herakut and Kent. The murals on display were created between 1997 and 2023 and, with a few exceptions, are still present in the cityscape today.
Murals are the largest and most striking form of expression in street art and can be found in many major cities around the world.
The term "mural" is derived from muralismo and generally stands for wall painting in public spaces. Street artists use spray cans, paint rollers and stencils to create elaborate and large-scale works of art. In contrast to other forms of street art, murals are usually legal projects that result from commissioned works, street art festivals or open-air exhibitions.
